- Passport
- Residence permit/visa
- Codice Fiscale (Italian tax number)

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS AND CHECK-IN TIME
Confirm the following:
- Full address and if necessary any specific details to find the property.
- Flight number so they can monitor your arrival
- Time to meet at the apartment.
The day of check-in:
WALKTHROUGH
You will be walked through the arrival checklist to help you settle into your new home. Use this time to ask any questions about the apartment and ask for instructions of appliances.
SECURITY DEPOSIT
After you have verified the apartment is the same as the listing on cribmed.com you should pay the security deposit directly to the owner on the day of your check-in. Be prepared to:
- Cash – (€250 per day ATM withdrawal limits in Italy) (ask for a signed receipt)
- PayPal – (Fast but high fees – VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT IN ADVANCE)
- Bank transfer – You should advise your bank in advance.
The Landlord will want this confirmed on the day of check-in so this may mean previously advising your bank that you will make a large foreign transaction. If you do not advise your bank beforehand they may block the transfer.
METER READINGS
The monthly rate you are paying most likely includes €100 of utilities, divided into a quantity of gas (in c/m), electricity (in kWh). At check-in the owner will take note of gas, electricity, and water (if necessary) meters. Pay attention to where the meters are and how to read them. This will help you monitor your consumption. It is also good to know the whereabouts of the electricity meter in case the kill switch activates – which is common in Italy due to a low kilowattage assigned to each property.
CONDITION REPORT
This should be done within the first 72 hours after check-in.
Take photos and make a list (if necessary) of any existing damages and then send it to the owner. This usually helps a smoother check out as now you will be accountable for only new damages.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Ask the owner who you should contact and the procedure if there are any issues with the property. Check out this for a maintenance responibility guide
