AMA – Rome – Garbage – How it Works

AMA is the company in charge of waste collection in Rome.

TARI (Tassa sui rifiuti) is an annual tax due to AMA by those who in any capacity occupy premises in the city, it means by every person/family living in the urban area of Rome. The payment is split in 2 half-yearly instalments (June and December).

The amount to be paid depends on the size of apartment/house and the number of tenants + fixed costs. Use the calculator to understand how much you should pay.

For rental contracts up to 1 year the tax is due by the landlord, who has to communicate to AMA the changes in the number of residents.

For long term contracts (exceeding 1 year) the tenant has to pay the annual fee and he has to register his data using this form:

How to do?

– Dowload and fill the form and send it by fax or mail to the given address

– It’s possible to apply online after registration on:

– You can visit the office, ask for further info and deliver there the documents
